Pierre Garcon: ‘I should be ready to go’ for Redskins next week

&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;runtime:topic id=”PESPT0012441”&amp;gt;Pierre Garcon&amp;lt;/runtime:topic&amp;gt; missed most of his first game with the &amp;lt;runtime:topic id=”ORSPT000226”&amp;gt;Washington Redskins&amp;lt;/runtime:topic&amp;gt;, as well as the spectacular debut of rookie quarterback &amp;lt;runtime:topic id=”PESPT0014793”&amp;gt;Robert Griffin III&amp;lt;/runtime:topic&amp;gt;.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;But the wide receiver, who signed as a free agent from Indianapolis during the off-season, doesn’t plan on missing much more. He left Sunday’s game with a sore right foot during the first quarter, shortly after hooking up with Griffin for an 88-yard catch-and-run touchdown reception, but was pretty optimistic about his chances of playing next week against the &amp;lt;runtime:topic id=”ORSPT000059”&amp;gt;St. Louis Rams&amp;lt;/runtime:topic&amp;gt;.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;”I couldn’t tell you exactly. I’ve got to get it looked at,” Garcon &amp;lt;a href=”https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2012/09/10/garcon-doesnt-expect-to-miss-significant-playing-time/”&amp;gt;said&amp;lt;/a&amp;gt;. “But I should be ready to go.”&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;X-rays on Garcon’s foot came back negative, team officials said.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;“He was sore enough not to come back -- and that was disappointing, because that was a heck of a catch and a run that he made,” &amp;lt;a href=”https://blogs.fredericksburg.com/redskinsjournal/2012/09/10/pierre-garcon-not-concerned-about-right-foot-injury/”&amp;gt;said&amp;lt;/a&amp;gt; Redskins Coach &amp;lt;runtime:topic id=”PESPT00008938”&amp;gt;Mike Shanahan&amp;lt;/runtime:topic&amp;gt;, who added that the injury was somewhere along the top of the receiver’s foot.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Even in his short amount of time on the field, Garcon seemed to develop a quick chemistry with his new quarterback and finished with a team-high 109 yards on four receptions during the Redskins’ 40-32 victory over the &amp;lt;runtime:topic id=”ORSPT000050”&amp;gt;Saints&amp;lt;/runtime:topic&amp;gt;.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;It was just what the Redskins were looking for when they signed the fifth-year player to a five-year, $42.5-million contract.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;“I’m glad we’ve got Pierre on our football team to say the least,” Shanahan said. “Ever since he got here, since we got him, he’s been a big-play guy. Big, and he’s strong. He’s 215 pounds, he’s in that 4.4 [-second 40-yard dash] range, and he can block, and he wants the football.
