Clippers are doing well in big games
The Clippers have fared pretty well this season in the so-called big games.
They have played eight of them so far, and the Clippers are 6-2 in those games. (The Clippers are 7-3 overall.)
For a team with high aspirations, that’s a good sign.
“[Clippers Coach] Doc [Rivers] said before the season even started that we have to get off to a good start because our schedule is tough,” Chris Paul said. “We’ve just got to keep taking it one game at a time.”
The season opener against the Lakers is considered a big game because of the significance of both teams playing in the same city and in the same building. The Clippers lost that game.
Of course the game against the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat that the Clippers lost was big.
But then there were victories over the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets (twice), Minnesota, Oklahoma City and Brooklyn.
The next big game for the Clippers is Monday night against the physical Memphis Grizzlies at Staples Center.
“And it doesn’t get any easier for us,” Paul said. “We have Memphis, at Minnesota [Wednesday], at OKC [Oklahoma City, Thursday]. It’s about the process. We’re going to say that all along. But we’ve just got to keep pushing.”
