The Arizona Cardinals have opened talks on a contract extension with Carson Palmer.

Cardinals General Manager Steve Keim confirmed the team has been in discussion with Palmer’s agent on a new deal.

“I won’t get into specific points of the negotiations but we’ve had some dialogue with Dave Dunn,” Keim said, according to the Arizona Republic. Keim said Palmer “has done a great job for us.”

Palmer is in his second season with the Cardinals after being acquired in a trade with the Oakland Raiders in April 2013. His contract currently runs through the 2015 season, but voids if he is still on the roster five business days after Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1.

A judge threw out a sexual assault lawsuit filed against Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Thursday, saying the claims were barred by Texas law limiting the time in which a case can be filed.

Jana Weckerly had accused Jones of grabbing her genitals and forcibly kissing her in 2009. Weckerly also alleged an attorney for Jones took a memory card with photos and destroyed it, and that she was paid hush money for several years after the incident. Jones denied the allegations.

State District Judge Dale Tillery ruled that the allegations, even if true, fell outside the five-year statute of limitations for civil sexual assault cases.

Mayo is one of the Patriots’ leaders on defense, but played in only six games last season before tearing his pectoral muscle.
