Season finale of AMA flat-track motorcycle racing set for Pomona
The season finale of the AMA Pro Flat Track motorcycle-racing series is scheduled Saturday night at the L.A. County Fairplex in Pomona.
The series consists of 16 races during the year on flat dirt tracks, as opposed to the curvy, hilly tracks used in off-road motorcycle racing such as motocross and supercross.
In the flat track series’ top class, Grand National Championship, Jared Mees leads the title standings by 13 points over fellow Michigan rider Bryan Smith and by 16 points over Jake Johnson of Pennsylvania.
There also will be racing in the series’ second-level Pro Singles series.
Saturday’s schedule starts with practice and qualifying at 3 p.m., followed by the opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. and then various heat races. The main racing events start at 9 p.m.
