UCLA football: Song remains the same for Coach Jim Mora
UCLA Jim Mora wouldn’t dare listen to those making predictions now. As a teen in the Seattle area?
Well …
“Led Zeppelin came to the Kingdome when I was in high school and I had tickets,” Mora said. “Some Nostradamus person predicted that the decibel level on Jimmy Page’s guitar would be so high that the roof would crack. So I didn’t go. I never got to see them. It is one of the regrets in my life.”
Classic rock was a constant during UCLA’s training camp at Cal State San Bernardino. So Mora has been getting his fix.
Given the choice between Led Zeppelin, the Who and Bruce Springsteen, Mora said, “You can play Led Zeppelin for me any day and I’ll as happy as heck.”
Mora is hoping for the third stage of his Led Zeppelin-like experience at UCLA. It was “Going to California” when he was hired in December 2011, then “Dazed and Confused” after taking a beating from Baylor last December in the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl.
This December? Maybe “Stairway to Heaven.” UCLA hasn’t played in the Rose Bowl since the 1999 game.
