It looks like Tiger Woods will have one less fan in his gallery next season, as girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, the greatest U.S. women’s skier in history, will take part this weekend in the U.S. Ski Team’s training camp in Portillo, Chile, six months after reconstructive knee surgery.

Vonn, a four-time overall World Cup champion and 2010 Olympic downhill champion, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and torn medial collateral ligament in her right knee in a crash at the Alpine Skiing World Championships in Schladming, Austria, in February.

Her progress will be monitored by Bill Sterett, who performed reconstructive surgery on the knee in February.

It is possible that Vonn will be ready to compete in World Cup races at Beaver Creek in Colorado in December and, if all goes well, will be able to race at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia, scheduled for Feb. 7-23. And she thinks she could win.

“I wouldn’t change my odds, just because I was injured,” Vonn told the Associated Press. “I’m going to be back just as good, if not better, than I was before.”
