UCLA linebacker Jordan Zumwalt to play against California
UCLA linebacker Jordan Zumwalt will play against California on Saturday, Bruins Coach Jim Mora said.
Zumwalt suffered a deep gash over his left eye in an motor scooter accident Sept. 23 and missed last Saturday’s game at Colorado. He was in drills Wednesday, but was wearing a red no-contact jersey.
“He was wearing his helmet today, but we were trying to keep his head out of things,” Mora said. “Tomorrow he should be at full speed.”
Zumwalt has been an impact player at outside linebacker. Damien Holmes replaced Zumwalt,
moving from inside linebacker, against Colorado.
Mora indicated that Holmes, who had seven unassisted tackles and three sacks against Colorado, would alternate between both outside and inside linebacker against California.
“I don’t know how much Jordan will play, or if he’ll start,” Mora said. “The fact that he didn’t practice and was limited today, in my mind, means he’s going to be a little bit limited on Saturday.”
