‘Golden Girls’ cruise set to sail from Miami in 2020
Fans of Rose, Blanche, Dorothy and Sophia now have a cruise to call their own.
A five-night cruise themed after the popular 1980s NBC sitcom “The Golden Girls” is set to sail from Miami next year.
The cruise called “Golden Girls At Sea’’ will take place aboard the Celebrity Infinity Feb. 24-29, 2020 with stops in Key West and Cozumel, Mexico. The trip is being organized by the company Flip Phone Events.
The cruise will include a stage show with drag queen performers, costume contests, trivia games, bingo, a St. Olaf Dance Party and cheesecake party. Cabins start at $1,000.
In case you need a reminder, the show chronicled the lives of four mature women who shared a house in Miami. Running from 1985 to 1992, the series starred Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty, Rue McClanahan and Betty White. Since its debut, the show has cultivated a loyal following with fans dressing up as the characters for parties. Reruns continue air on cable networks such as TV Land.
The trip is the latest in a wave of super fan cruises that feature boy bands and actors from popular TV shows and movies.
Last week, DJ Khaled announced that he is hosting the “Days of Summer” cruise from Miami with Cardi B and Post Malone aboard the Carnival Victory in June.
There’s also a classic TV-themed cruise with actors from “The Brady Bunch,” “Gilligan’s Island” and “Good Times’’ on the Celebrity Silhouette from Fort Lauderdale Nov. 8-14.
