The Hilton Key Largo will reopen this fall as Baker’s Cay Resort, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton.
A planned rebranding and renovation had closed the resort before Hurricane Irma swept through in September 2017. The resort, on 13 acres on the Gulf side of the Overseas Highway, originally opened in 1985.
Here’s what you need to know:
What are the room rates?
In-season rates start in the mid-$500s. Off-season rates start in the mid-$300s. There are 200 rooms and suites with balconies and views of the beach or tropical hammock.
What kind of activities are offered?
The usual assortment of indoor and outdoor recreation is available. There are two swimming pools plus a waterfall grotto. A fitness room, bike rentals and nature trail, plus water sports such as jet skiing, fishing and sailing. There are also plans for beachside yoga, volleyball tournaments and a children’s eco-education program.
What about something more soothing?
There’s an Aveda salon, complete with a signature bath amenity scent made with local honey and citrus. And a library with reading nooks for sun-shy introverts.
And the dining options?
Calusa is a Cajun-Caribbean restaurant with views of the bay. Dry Rocks is a beachside option with a large outdoor deck. There is also a pool bar with a food truck, and a traditional Florida Keys tiki bar.
Just don’t ask for a plastic straw with your cocktail.
Are pets allowed?
Yes, pets — 50 pounds max — are welcome everywhere but the swimming pools. There’s a $50 fee. The resort’s promotional materials promise “currated bone menus” for Fido.
