The 2014 Miss La Cañada Flintridge Royal Court will be announced on Friday, Dec. 6, when the local chamber of commerce hosts the annual Festival in Lights at Memorial Park from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

The 11 finalists still in the running for the court are Jenna Gray, Mikah Harrick, Violet Herzfeld, Esther Hong, Darcy Keh, Caroline Kenney, Kaitlin Powers, Sabine Puglia, Sarah Sellman, Monica Song and Freya Strasburg. Judges considered strength in academics, sports, extracurricular activities and voluntarism among the 21 high school juniors who applied.

“This year our judges had a real challenge to come up with not only the 11 finalists but also selecting the five to be named this Friday,” stated Pat Anderson, chief executive of the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce. “All of the applicants are well qualified to serve and the Chamber is delighted with the judges’ selections. This will be our 41st year for the Royal Court and this year is just as exciting as all the years before.”

A formal coronation ceremony be held on Jan. 16, when the chamber holds its annual installation and awards event at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club.
