Art history lecturer Linda Blair continues her series “A New Look at Impressionism,” 7:30 p.m., Monday Jan. 18 at Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, 1008 Wall St. Although Manet is called the “Father of Impressionism,” he was not an Impressionist at all, but an extraordinarily inventive (almost revolutionary) artist. In the decades following World War II, those who studied under architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed and built a fabulous array of structures in La Jolla and San Diego. The exhibit, “Frank Lloyd Wright’s Legacy in San Diego: The Taliesin Apprentices,” frames this remarkably rich portfolio of work with architectural drawings, photographs and ephemera, that demonstrate the power of Wright’s influence.
