Music in the Air

UC San Diego Department of Music opens its fall season with pianist Aleck Karis, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Conrad Prebys Concert Hall, UCSD campus, 9500 Gilman Drive. Concert also launches the 2016-17 installment of the department’s Wednesdays@7 concert series. Museum Month

Maker Faire, a family-friendly event celebrating technology, education, science, arts, crafts, engineering, food and sustainability returns to Balboa Park Oct. 1-2.
