A new era of soccer in the city will kick off Sunday when the Los Angeles Football Club play their home opener against the Seattle Sounders at the newly built Banc of California Stadium.
Excitement for Major League Soccer's newest club is palpable. It's not uncommon to see Angelenos wearing hats and shirts emblazoned with LAFC's Art Deco-inspired logo, and the team announced in late February it had sold out of season tickets. Ditto for Sunday's match — the cheapest tickets on the secondary market are going for $110.
But who exactly is rooting for LAFC? Is it you? If so, we want to hear from you!
“When I first saw the logo, I thought it was really awesome.”
“This team is for everyone, not just for L.A. natives.”
“Like their motto says, "It’s in the heart of L.A."”
“It’s a connection with my hometown that I’ve wanted for many years and finally feel.”
“I like the colors, I feel the team is more representative of the city as a whole, the art deco theme is strong and the overall branding is very sleek.”
“I love that Carlos Vela is our first star player.”
“As a recent immigrant from Scotland, I've watched football for my entire life, and L.A. Galaxy have never felt like "my" team.”
“I have all my friends and city supporting LAFC and it is nothing like I have ever experienced!”
“I've been to La Bonbonera and Old Trafford, and I was always envious of the fans and people that lived near there.”
