On Tuesday, California held a special election for state Assembly as Los Angeles County decided a mix of local contests. Here are the results at the end of election night. Some late and provisional ballots remain to be counted.
Special Election for Assembly District 1
Democrat Elizabeth Betancourt and Republican Megan Dahle faced off for California Assembly District 1, a conservative-leaning district located in the northeast corner of the state. The seat was vacated by Dahle’s husband, Sen. Brian Dahle, after he won Senate District 1 in June.
L.A. County local and municipal elections
Los Angeles County held an array of local and municipal elections today. Notable items on the ballot included Measure B in Rancho Palos Verdes, which would have given hospitality workers a $15 per hour minimum wage, and measures in Claremont, Irwindale, Monrovia, Sierra Madre and South Pasadena that aimed to raise the sales tax to fund parks and public services to the state maximum of 10.25%.
