The La Cañada Flintridge City Council got a makeover Monday, as outgoing council members Laura Olhasso and Don Voss handed seats to new members Len Pieroni and Terry Walker and were recognized for their collective 21 years of service.

Representatives from the offices of Sen. Carol Liu (D-La Cañada Flintridge), Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) and County Supervisor Mike Antonovich joined civic groups and city staff in recognizing Voss and Olhasso’s accomplishments with plaques and certificates.

Many, including City Manager Mark Alexander, offered them and former Mayor Mike Davitt, who will remain on the council for a second four-year term, gifts to commemorate their service.

“We want to thank and commend both of you for an outstanding, outstanding job,” Alexander addressed Olhasso and Voss. “Congratulations. I hate to see you go, but I understand.”

Later, Davitt joined Walker and Pieroni in a brief swearing-in ceremony conducted by city clerk Tania Moreno, before taking their new seats and selecting Councilman Dave Spence as La Cañada’s next mayor and Councilman Jonathan Curtis as mayor pro tem for the next 12 months.

In his parting remarks, Voss wished the new council success.

“I have every confidence that La Cañada Flintridge will continue in good hands. Thanks so much to the staff and, most importantly, thanks to the residents for this humbling opportunity,” he said.

Olhasso highlighted the challenges and achievements faced by the city in her 12 years on the council.

“I’m really proud of all that we’ve accomplished together,” Olhasso said. “Thank you for the opportunity to serve.”
