A dozen young patients at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, along with parents and caregivers, were treated on Jan. 6 to a special screening of the current film release, “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip,” courtesy of the La Cañada Junior Women’s Club.

Club members Kelly Chamberlain, Lindsay Becker, Jane Owen, Brenda Gant, Jenny Hull, Jill Weinlein and Asiya Khawaja attended the event. Becker’s husband, Walt Becker, directed the animated film, which was released to theaters on Dec. 18.

Walt Becker and actor Jesse McCartney, who gave voice to the chipmunk character Theodore, also attended the screening, set up in the hospital’s fourth floor family lounge. Both men signed “Alvin and the Chipmunks” posters for the children to hang in their hospital rooms.

In addition to sharing the film in the family lounge, the group visited the hospital’s playroom, infusion and rehabilitation areas to bring some cheer to patients.
