With the fall arrival of the new club season, Chuck Terhune formally became president of the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada on Sept. 27 during the group’s annual installation dinner at Oakmont Country Club.

Terhune, who also currently serves as president of the La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Assn., accepted the Kiwanis gavel from outgoing president Mike Leininger.

“This is our time of year where we celebrate out with the old and bring in the new,” Leininger said to those assembled for the event. “Chuck will take our club to the next level with his enthusiasm for the position along with his leadership skills he possesses.”

Outgoing officers and directors of the club were presented with recognition certificates for their efforts by state Sen. Anthony Portantino.

Leininger was thanked for his work on behalf of the group by La Cañada Mayor Pro Tem Terry Walker and Pat Anderson, president and chief executive of the LCF Chamber of Commerce, both of whom are also Kiwanians.

The club meets at noon every Wednesday at Descanso Gardens. New members are welcome. To learn more, visit www.lacanadakiwanis.org.
