Readers of all ages and interests are invited to drop by La Cañada public library, 4545 Oakwood Ave., in mid-October to take advantage of bargain prices on gently used books at a giant book sale.

Friends of the La Cañada Library, the all-volunteer group the works in support of the facility, organize the sale. They say there be “thousands of wonderful books” in a wide variety of categories on sale from Oct. 12 to 15.

The first day of the event is set aside for members of the Friends group, which nonmembers can join in advance of the sale for $15 per year. Information will be available at the membership desk in the lobby. Hours for the sale on Wednesday, Oct. 12, are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The event will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13; from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14; and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15 (doors close promptly at 3 p.m. that day).

Money raised during the sale, and via Friends of the Library membership, help provide new books, compact discs and other items for the library. It’s also used to upgrade equipment and offer special programs for all ages. Recently, the group was responsible for the purchase of new doors for the facility.
