Pasadena Tournament of Roses Board of Directors confirmed last week that La Cañada Flintridge resident Brad Ratliff will be president for the 2016-17 year. As such, he will provide leadership for the 128th Rose Parade and 103rd Rose Bowl Game on Jan. 2, 2017.

Upon his confirmation in a ceremony Thursday, Jan. 21, one of Ratliff’s first official acts was to announce “Echoes of Success” as the theme for next year’s Rose Parade.

“‘Echoes of Success’ celebrates those people, organizations and institutions that play a part in the stories of the success of others,” Ratliff stated in a tournament release. “Success cannot be achieved alone. It takes the support, dedication, compassion and love of many others to help in finding that satisfaction of success.”

The La Cañada resident has been a member of Pasadena Tournament of Roses since 1988, and has served on and chaired various committees, including the Equestrian, Queen & Court and Services & Properties committees.

A current member of the executive management team for Sylmar-based Inline Distributing Co., Ratliff was appointed a chairman of the tournament in 2004 and director in 2007. In 2009, he was elected to the organization’s Executive Committee.

A graduate of UCLA, the third-generation Pasadena native enjoys water skiing, reading, running, hiking and spending time with wife Susan. The couple have two adult children, Christen and Sarah.

Ratliff’s selection as president of Pasadena Tournament of Roses is not without precedent in his family — father Dick Ratliff served as president of the 110th Rose Parade and 85th Rose Bowl Game in 1999.
