Lanterman Auditorium shines brighter thanks to lighting upgrade

The lights at Lanterman Auditorium are shining a little bit brighter these days thanks to the recent addition by the city of La Cañada Flintridge of about $25,000 in auditorium lighting, spotlights and up-lights, according to a city release issued last week.

The recent lighting installment is part of a larger, three-year lighting upgrade program being undertaken at Lanterman Auditorium, the maintenance of which was undertaken by the city from owner La Cañada Unified School District in 2003 through a joint use agreement.

Since then, several improvements have been made to the facility on Cornishon Avenue, including a sound system upgrade and renovations to restrooms and dressing rooms.

“Lanterman has seen generations of La Cañadans pass through its doors,” City Manager Mark Alexander said in the release. “It is vital that this community icon be preserved, and the city has systematically worked to improve the conditions of the theater, year over year.”
