La Cañada resident Julie Battaglia, known for assisting area and regional nonprofit organizations with her marketing and public relations skills, will be recognized Nov. 29 at the annual Prism Awards banquet given by the L.A. Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

Battaglia will be presented with the society’s 2017 Joseph Roos Award, given annually to a PRSA-LA member for outstanding community service or activities. The event will held at the Omni Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

“I’m really grateful to be in a field that makes such a big difference to nonprofit organizations and their important work, whether across the world or right here in our town,” Battaglia said in a statement issued Nov. 10. “I’m also grateful the L.A. public relations community makes a point to honor community service with one of its signature awards.”

USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, United Way of Greater Los Angeles, Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles, Girls on the Run L.A. County and Wells Bring Hope are among the organizations Battaglia has lent her professional hand to over the years.
