La Cañada Flintridge postpones vote on commission seats

After interviewing a final round of applicants for soon-to-be open seats on various city commissions and public committees, members of the La Cañada Flintridge City Council decided Tuesday to hold off on making any final decisions until their next meeting June 7.

“We had a lot of really good applicants this time. (And) I feel very rushed making a decision tonight,” said Councilwoman Terry Walker, requesting an extension that would also allow Councilman Len Pieroni, absent at Tuesday’s meeting, to participate in the selection process.

City Manager Mark Alexander said the current commission seats in question were due to expire on May 31, and that those terms would have to be extended to accommodate the council’s request for continuance.

After some discussion, the council agreed to postpone the roll call vote until its next meeting. Alexander said Wednesday the terms would not be extended to a specific date, to allow for those new members voted in at the June 7 meeting to be sworn in whenever their individual commissions or committees met.
