Crime Report: Medical equipment, golf clubs stolen from car

Jan. 13

Mail theft: 1900 block of Lyans Drive. A woman reported that at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12 she noticed a package in her mailbox, but did not collect her mail that day. On Wednesday, Jan. 13, she discovered her mailbox was open and its contents gone. She spoke to her regular mail carrier who confirmed that mail had been placed in the box the previous day. The victim notified the deputy taking her report that several of her neighbors also found their mailboxes hanging open that day.

Vehicle burglary: 4800 block of Carmel Road. A man reported that sometime between 10 a.m. Jan. 9 and 4:30 p.m., on Jan. 13 someone ransacked his Toyota Camry, which had been left unlocked in his driveway. He immediately noticed a lab coat and a stethoscope that had been left in its pocket were missing. On checking the car’s trunk he discovered that an ophthalmoscope and a complete set of golf clubs had also been stolen. The responding deputy found no sign of forced entry.

Jan. 15

Grand theft: 1100 block of Fordhook Drive. A woman reported that sometime between mid-December and Jan. 3 someone took a white gold and diamond anniversary ring from a dresser drawer in her bedroom. She said the last time she saw it there was a handyman working unsupervised in her home. Also during the period, her nanny did some dog-sitting for her, several guests visited the property and her housekeeper was working there each Wednesday. She asked them all about the missing ring and all denied taking it, according to the report.

Jan. 16

Petty theft from vehicle: 4500 block of Viro Road. A woman reported that sometime between 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15 and 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, someone had taken several items from her unlocked SUV, which she had left parked in her driveway. The missing items included a notary stamp and ink pad, a notary journal, a California driver’s license, currency, a wallet and eight credit cards.

Vandalism and petty theft: 5100 block of Princess Anne Road. A woman reported that sometime between 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15 and 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, someone pried open her locked mailbox and stole mail from it.
