Burglary, residence: 400 block of Richmond Road. A woman reported that sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., someone entered her locked home and stole a laptop computer and cellphone from her son’s bedroom. The suspect(s) also took a can of AXE body spray from her son’s bathroom and a bottle of Gatorade from the kitchen.

There were no signs of forced entry; the house was not ransacked during the incident and no other items appeared to be out of place. The point of exit may have been a sliding-glass door in the victim’s son’s room, which was found unlocked.

The woman said she believed her estranged older son may have been to blame for the incident, as she’d taken him to the hospital the day before seeking treatment for substance abuse. She told him he was not allowed to return to the house, and believes he may have waited for her to go to work and then entered the house, taking the items from her younger son’s room. She noted he had been “fixated on the fact he did not have a computer or cellular telephone as his were misplaced/stolen at his last rehab placement.”

Petty theft, unlocked vehicle: 626 Foothill Blvd. A woman told deputies that sometime between 9:05 and 11:30 a.m., someone entered her unlocked 2010 Chevy Tahoe while it was parked at La Cañada Presbyterian Church and stole her leather Gucci wallet, which contained her driver’s license and an unspecified amount of bills and coins, from the rear driver’s side floor board.

The victim did not know who may have done it, but reported seeing a dark-colored sedan occupied by two Latino males in their 20s or 30s parked in the stall next to hers when she exited her vehicle. The vehicle was gone by the time she returned to the scene.

Grand theft, unlocked vehicle: 1100 block of Green Lane. A man reported that sometime shortly before 3 a.m. that day, someone entered his unlocked 2013 Lexus ES350 while it was parked in his driveway and stole his leather Gucci wallet, containing a driver’s license, currency and three credit cards, from inside. A vehicle manual, insurance card and registration card were also taken.

The suspect, shown on surveillance video to be an adult female (described on the report as possibly white, Latino or Armenian) was seen walking toward the vehicle at 2:56 a.m. holding a white bag. She opened the driver’s side door and got in the vehicle, ransacking it as a male adult sat nearby with a flashlight, presumably on the lookout. After several minutes, the woman left the vehicle carrying a full bag. She also ransacked the trunk before meeting up with the second suspect on Green and walking out of view.

Identity theft: 2000 block of Lyans Drive. A woman told deputies she’d received a letter on April 21 from a protection services agency that investigates AT&T cellphone insurance claims.

The letter said she’d been denied a claim for an Apple iPhone 6s Plus, despite the fact that the woman does not own such a phone. She later called AT&T’s Global Fraud Unit, on the advice of a company representative, and learned that on April 6, eight cellphone lines had been opened using her maiden name, social security number and home address.

The representative was unable to say where the phones were activated and could not provide their phone numbers. The matter is still being investigated by AT&T’s fraud unit.
