June 27

Burglary (other structure): 4400 block of Oak Grove Drive. A man reported that sometime between 5 p.m. on Friday, June 24 and 8 a.m. on Monday, June 27 a thief or thieves climbed over a 12-foot-high wall and into an enclosed storage area. Once inside, they cut the locking mechanism on the gate and removed a Schwinn adult beach-cruiser tricycle, a Genie electric lift and an adult go-kart. The latter item was found later, abandoned in an adjacent parking lot, presumably because there was no key to start it and the suspect(s) would have had to drag it away.

Petty theft: 2100 block of Foothill Boulevard. A woman reported that at about 2 p.m. that day she set her Samsung Galaxy cellphone on a store counter while making purchases. Once outside the store, she realized she’d left her phone inside, so she went to retrieve it. Not finding it on the counter, she contacted a store employee. Together, they saw on surveillance video that a white woman, approximately 60 to 64 years old, approached the counter after the victim left, made a purchase, then picked up the cellphone and took it with her out of the store.

Identity theft: 4800 block of Hillard Ave. A man reported that on June 14 he and his wife received a notice from the IRS stating their federal tax return had been received. But they hadn’t yet filed their 2015 return. The IRS told them that the notice had been sent to them because more information was needed to complete the bogus filing. The couple filed an Identity Theft Affidavit.

June 30

Grand theft: 4400 block of Oak Grove Drive. A man reported that sometime between June 23 and June 30 someone stole the ignition box from a Yamaha all-terrain vehicle belonging to his company. The theft took place while the man and his co-workers were replacing the turf at the high school athletic field.

July 1

Petty theft: 500 block of Dartmouth Place. A woman reported that sometime between midnight and 5:40 a.m. that day someone entered an unlocked car that had been left parked in her driveway and taken her Kate Spade leather wallet containing a driver’s license, a Bank of America debit card, an AAA MasterCard and three miscellaneous gift cards. Records showed the stolen debit card and credit card were used that morning at local businesses.

July 2

Identity theft: 4900 block of Hampton Road. A man reported that his wife had received a call on June 29 from AT&T in regards to an AT&T U-Verse account that had been fraudulently opened under his name, using his Social Security number. The home address where the service was being used is in Riverdale, Ga. About three years ago, the same couple were the victims of identity theft through a fraudulent IRS return that was also made by using the man’s Social Security number.
