Petty theft, unlocked vehicle: 4700 block of Lasheart Drive. A man reported that at 3:41 a.m., his home video surveillance captured someone breaking into his unlocked 2014 Mercedes ML550 while it was parked near his house.

He reported several mailbox and padlock keys, in addition to two house keys, were stolen. The video showed a silver sedan driving northbound past the residence. A white or Latino male wearing a light-colored T-shirt and shorts was seen opening the victim’s car and reaching inside.

Two other males, also wearing light-colored clothing (no other identifying information was given), were shown on the video jogging southbound on Lasheart. One of them stopped at another vehicle parked on the street and attempted to enter it, but was unsuccessful, and so continued south.

The silver vehicle was seen driving southbound on Lasheart and out of view.

Theft, mail: 800 block of Flintridge Avenue. A woman told deputies that sometime between 4:30 p.m. the previous day and 6:50 a.m. that day, someone pried open her mailbox and had strewn mail about on the ground below. Deputies observed the locked rear door of the mailbox had been pried open at its locking mechanism.

The victim did not know whether any mail was taken during the incident. At least one other mailbox in the area appeared to have been broken into as well, deputies noted in the report.

Theft, mail: 5800 block of Ocean View Boulevard. A man reported checking his mail on Oct. 4 and finding the box empty, which is unusual as he tends to receive mail every day.

When the man reviewed his home video surveillance footage, he saw a silver, newer model sedan with paper plates pull up to his mailbox at 2:44 p.m. that date. The passenger, a male Latino in his 20s with a short beard, leaned out of the vehicle’s window, opened the mailbox and took the mail from inside. The vehicle drove southbound on Ocean View and out of sight.

Grand theft: 600 block of Foothill Boulevard. A store employee told deputies that at 3:27 p.m. that day, three black females entered through the front of the store and walked to the nearby purse display.

One woman picked up purses, while the second and third women cut the security cords off them. Then all three women ran out of the store with 11 purses, including eight Fendi bags, two Gucci bags and one blue Yves Saint Laurent bag.

The suspects were thought to be in their 20s and 30s and, the employee said, had been seen stealing merchandise from the store’s Glendale chain one hour earlier, and had managed to leave the scene.

Burglary, residence: 300 block of Berkshire Avenue. Deputies responded to a burglary alarm call and spoke to a homeowner who said between 8:15 a.m. and 2:21 p.m. that day he was told by his alarm company that his home alarm had been set off.

After securing the area, deputies observed in a walk-through of the residence that a rear glass door had been smashed open, providing the point of entry and exit. It was unclear whether anything was taken during the incident.

Petty theft, bicycle: 600 block of Foothill Boulevard. A man told deputies that at 1:45 p.m. that day, he parked his 1991 “Specialized” Rock Hopper mountain bike and left it unlocked and unattended for approximately two hours. When he returned to the area, he discovered the bicycle had been stolen.
