Petty theft: 2000 block of Hilldale Drive. A woman reported that someone ransacked the console and glove compartment of her Honda Pilot, taking a pair of gold Maui Jim sunglasses and a roll of 20 quarters. She said she didn’t remember locking the Pilot when she parked it in her driveway at about 3:15 p.m. Feb. 12. When she returned to it at 8 a.m. Feb. 13, she discovered the items were missing.

Theft from credit card: 4100 block of Dover Road. A man reported he was alerted via email from Wells Fargo that someone had used his Visa credit card to make a purchase. On looking into the matter, he learned the shipping address was not his. He had not authorized anyone to use his card, so he canceled it with Wells Fargo and alerted the retailer not to ship the fraudulently ordered item out.

Burglary: 700 block of Greenridge Drive. As reported in the Valley Sun last week, a man returned to his home at about 7:24 p.m. to realize it had been broken into and items had been taken, including a MacBook Air laptop computer and two guns. A tracking app on the computer led investigators to Hesperia, where they detained two suspects. In the crime report released Feb. 21, it’s revealed the stolen firearms included a Remington 870 12-gauge shotgun and a Springfield .45 caliber semiautomatic pistol. The shotgun had been stored in a gun safe stored underneath the victim’s bed while the pistol was kept under the mattress. Also taken were miscellaneous pieces of women’s jewelry. A video surveillance camera shows a woman, her hands covered by the sleeves of her sweatshirt, ringing the doorbell several times. A law enforcement official notes in the report that “based on the totality of the items taken, it is most likely there were more suspects involved.”

Vandalism: 4500 block of Ocean View Boulevard. A woman reported that someone broke a window in a parking structure sometime between 4 p.m. Feb. 16 and 7:40 a.m. Feb. 19. An investigating deputy surmised that because there were rocks on the ground nearby and because the window was broken from the outside in, that someone may have thrown a rock through the glass.
