Boy Scout Troop 509, sponsored by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, recently returned to town after having participated in a one-week session of the Boy Boy Scouts of America Northern Tier High Adventure program.

In early August the La Cañada troop, as part of their adventure program, canoed more than 100 miles with nearly 50 portages between lakes in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in the Superior National Forest of northern Minnesota.

Participating troop members included Jack Andrews, Andre Der Sarkissian, Andre Galenchik-Chan, Eric Hagegard, Miles Haxton, Corwin Hill, Zach Nash, Lucas Oh, Josh Perkins and Forrest Swain.

Six adults took part in the adventure as well. They were Scoutmaster Dr. Martin Kast, Gayle Hagegard, Tom Andrews, Mark Swain, David Haxton and Cory Hill.
