Pet clinic honored

La Cañada Pet Clinic on Foothill Bouelvard was recently recognized for its 50 consecutive years of accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Assn. It is owned and operated by local residents Dr. Woody Walker and his wife, City Councilwoman Terry Walker.

“I would like to congratulate La Cañada Pet Clinic on their 50th anniversary of being accredited by the American Animal Hospital Assn,” said Michael Cavanaugh, DVM, DABVP, AAHA chief executive officer, in a news statement. “Choosing to pursue AAHA accreditation and maintaining that for a half century demonstrates true commitment to veterinary excellence by the entire practice team.”

Serving the community alongside Woody Walker are two associate veterinarians, Dr. Geraldine Schultz and Dr. Danielle Pershing.

Harris named chairman

Richard L. Harris of La Cañada Flintridge in June was elected chairman of the National Assn. of Federal Credit Unions’ Board of Directors at its annual conference. His election coincides with his 30th anniversary as president and chief executive of the Caltech Employees Federal Credit Union.

Rep. Adam Schiff, in a statement, offered congratulations to Harris. “I have known Mr. Harris for many years, and he has done a superb job advocating for CEFCU and NAFCU,” Schiff said.

The local credit union, which has grown to more than $1.4 billion and more than 30,000 members, owns two properties in the commercial center of La Cañada. The first is its headquarters at 500 Foothill Blvd. and recently acquired facilities on the corner of Foothill at Commonwealth Avenue that will house its Real Estate Loan Center.

Harris grew up in La Cañada and today he resides here with his wife Debbie, president of a promotional and corporate gift company. The couple are the parents of three adult children.

Richard Harris has served in leadership positions for the Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation, Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Support Group and the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge.
