The city of La Cañada Flintridge is seeking public input in preparing a Climate Action Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the local community while maintaining or improving the quality of life for residents.

The first of four public workshop meetings will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 1327 Foothill Blvd.

The CAP document is intended to build on the city’s existing sustainability efforts — such as a 2010 greenhouse gas inventory and the addition of a “safety element” to its 2013 General Plan — in a way that is practical, efficient and reflective of its desirable characteristics and qualities.

At Thursday’s kick-off meeting, participants will be introduced to the project and the planning process, and will be briefed on its background, scope and goals. This workshop is intended to be an open, inclusive and collaborative process.

The final plan is expected to be presented before the La Cañada Flintridge City Council for adoption as early as June 2016. Anyone who is unable to attend the meetings in person but would like to participate can direct comments and questions to Christina McAdams at cmcadams@rinconconsultants.com.

For more information, contact the city at (818) 790-8880.
