Deputies with the Los Angeles County Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station are investigating a residential burglary on Flintridge Avenue that was interrupted Thursday afternoon when the victim returned home to find a man running from the interior of her house.

Lt. Douglas Mohrhoff, watch commander for the Crescenta Valley Station, said the initial call came in at 1:58 p.m. from a home on the 900 block of Flintridge Avenue in La Cañada Flintridge.

“Apparently the homeowner came back to his or her house when a male suspect ran out the front door, jumped into a vehicle parked in the driveway and took off,” Mohrhoff said.

Deputies immediately responded to the scene and searched the premises, making sure it was safe for the homeowner to return. An air unit from the Burbank Police Department, nearby at the time of the incident, also responded to the call, according to Mohrhoff.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a silver or beige compact sedan. The only available description of the suspect as of 3 p.m. was that he was a male wearing a baseball cap.

It was not immediately known how the suspect entered the property, or whether anything was stolen. Mohrhoff said deputies were stationed in the vicinity and were continuing to investigate the premises for information that might aid them in their investigation.
