Public hearing on radio system slated

Share

On Tuesday at 6 p.m., the La Cañada Flintridge Planning Commission will hold a public hearing regarding a land mobile radio communications system proposed for the Cerro Negro Observation Tower at the southern terminus of Sugar Loaf Drive, near the border of La Cañada and Glendale.

The project being proposed by the Los Angeles Regional Interoperable Communications System Authority (LA-RICS) could include a 600-square-foot equipment shelter and a 100-foot lattice tower with a lightning rod up to 15 feet in height, as well as proposed whip and microwave antennas.

The publicly owned site already contains antenna support structures that transmit or receive public safety radio signals and is categorically exempt under provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act guidelines.
