Barger pulls ahead with good reason

On Aug. 3, the Los Angeles Times published the recent campaign finance reporting of all the candidates running for Mike Antonovich’s supervisorial seat. What immediately grasped my attention was the $514,000 that Kathryn Barger has raised so far. Of all the candidates, Barger is the only one who is not an elected official or has previously run for office. Her background is simple; she’s been Supervisor Antonovich’s chief of staff for the past 15 years and previously was one of his deputies, since 1989.

If anyone at the county level has as much experience as Mike Antonovich, it’s Kathryn Barger. Her qualifications and experience are a testament to the amount of funds she’s been able to raise. Not only has she been an immediate front-runner financially, but her campaign has been endorsed by several high profile politicians such as former Gov. Pete Wilson, former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan, and former Rep. David Dreier, as well as Antonovich. Barger continues to impress me, whether it is her experience, her plans as supervisor and the growing support for her campaign. Without a doubt, I strongly support Kathryn Barger and I urge my community members in joining me.
