Mailbag: In memory of his traffic disruptions

Share

Re: state Sen. Anthony Portantino’s proposal to name part of the 134 Freeway after President Barack Obama. Portantino may think this is a good idea, but let me remind him of the countless trips Obama made to California for fundraising and other non-presidential duties. Let’s also be reminded of the gridlock Obama caused on these trips, usually arriving right smack in the middle of rush hour.

To name any freeway in California after him is an insult to us who have suffered in traffic for hours because of his unnecessary visits to California. Also, the delays caused at airports when Obama came to this state to do fundraising were inappropriate. My experience was a four-hour delay on a flight trying to get back to Burbank.

No, Portantino and other supporters of this proposal, I don’t want to see his name on a freeway and be reminded again of the gridlock he caused.
