Religion Briefs: ‘Giant of Justice’ to preach at LCUMC

La Cañada United Methodist Church welcomes the Rev. David Farley to the pulpit for its 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday, July 1, as Pastor Elaine Cho continues her vacation.

Farley serves as director of justice and compassion ministries for the California-Pacific Conference of the United Methodist Church. He is a recipient of the Methodist Federation for Social Action’s Mildred Hutchinson Award as a “Giant of Justice.”

The title of Farley’s sermon Sunday is “The Work of Listening” (Luke 10:38-42). He’ll discuss how people today can listen to the word of God.

Sunday school is available for early elementary school children.

Guest preacher to lead service

Guest preacher Megan More will lead the 10 a.m. worship service at La Cañada Congregational Church on Sunday, July 17.

Organist Joe Klice will provide special music for the morning.

Affiliated with the United Church of Christ, the church is located at the intersection of Foothill and Verdugo boulevards, across the street from Memorial Park. Visitors are welcome.
