Religion Briefs: St. Bede branch of ICF installs officers

The installation of 2016 officers for the St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church branch of the Italian Catholic Federation were installed this month. The ceremony took place during a Los Angeles Archdiocese District Mass and luncheon held at St. Peter’s Italian Church in Los Angeles.

ICF Branch 374 at St. Bede is a part of a national organization committed to charitable works and the education of youth while celebrating the heritages of its members. Catholics of several ethnicities and national groups are members.

Congregationalists to host service, music

After a brief vacation, the Rev. Skip Lindeman returns to the pulpit for the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday, Jan. 31 at La Cañada Congregational Church.

Lindeman will lead the service and deliver the morning message on the topic, “Prophet on the Edge.”

The Chancel Choir, led by Dr. Harold Daugherty, will perform the spiritual, “My Lord, What a Morning”, arranged by Benson. The church organist is Joe Klice, who will provide special music during the service.

The church, located at 1200 Foothill Blvd., welcomes visitors, who are invited to stay after the service for the coffee hour.

Events scheduled at LCUMC

Concluding this month’s series on the topic of love, Pastor Elaine Cho bases her Jan. 31 sermon at La Cañada United Methodist Church on six “I will” promises from Psalms 91:14-16. The service begins at 10:30 a.m. and the sermon’s title is “Love for Love.”

Starting Feb. 3, the church’s Intercessory Prayer and Women’s Bible Study will both be held on Wednesdays. The prayer session gets underway at 10:30 a.m. and the Bible study at 11 a.m.
