Third place in the Prep League certainly isn’t anything to scoff about.

Flintridge Prep took third in its league, entered the playoffs with a .500 record and is now moving on to the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division IV Tournament.

The Rebels thumped host Webb, 15-3, in the first round on Wednesday and will now play Friday in the second round against JW North, a 13-5 winner over Granite Hills.

A coin flip Thursday will determine which school will host.

On Wednesday, Crystal Juan and Libby Penn each swept in singles, improving to 12-0 in the postseason as the Rebels (10-8) defeated Lancaster, 17-1, in a wild-card match on Tuesday.

Webb (9-8), which was formerly a member of the Prep League and shared the San Joaquin League title this season, lost eight of nine singles sets as Suzie Kim won two for the Rebels in singles, as well.

Jayasri Krishnakumar and Tiana Lopez swept in doubles for Prep, while Suha Chang and Lauren Cho also won two sets.

In two postseason matches, the Rebels have lost just four sets.
