Sports Roundup: St. Francis baseball picks up league win

BASEBALL

St. Francis 8, Alemany 5: Brandon Lewis had two hits, two runs batted in and a run scored as the Golden Knights prevailed in Mission League play Friday at the Glendale Sports Complex.

Nolan Shwery threw 6 1/3 innings for the win, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Jacob Becthold added two hits and a run for the Knights (7-16, 4-8 in league).

SOFTBALL

La Cañada 13, South Pasadena 0: The Spartans continued their roll through the Rio Hondo League with a home victory on Friday afternoon.

With the win, La Cañada improved to 13-4 and 9-0 in league.

Mayfield 12, Flintridge Prep 8: Flintridge Prep fell in a Prep League road contest Friday. The Rebels (8-6, 4-5 in league) got three runs batted in each from Libby Penn and Melissa Grande.
