Sports Roundup: La Cañada girls’ hoops picks up first win
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
La Cañada 62, Montebello 38: The Spartans picked up their first victory of the season on Wednesday in the Duarte Tournament.
Emmie Lew led La Cañada (1-1) with 14 points and four rebounds, while Tess Oakley-Stilson added 13 points and four rebounds as did Sydney Lew. Brooke Yasuda chipped in nine points and three steals.
San Marino 61, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 48: The Tologs (1-6) dropped a Pasadena Poly Tournament contest Thursday.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
La Cañada 2, Mayfield 1: A day after dropping their first contest of the season, the Spartans recovered for a victory in the Duarte Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.
La Cañada improved to 3-1-2.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
South Pasadena 65, Flintridge Prep 63 (overtime): The Rebels fell Wednesday in a nonleague game.
Jack Cartwright had a career high 17 points and AJ Nicasssio added 11 and 15 rebounds for Flintridge Prep (3-3).
