Sports Roundup: Flintridge Sacred Heart softball on roll

SOFTBALL

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 6, Victor Valley 2: With a pair of nonleague wins on Saturday, the Tologs continued a sensational start to the season as they improved to 8-1 and have won five straight games.

In a 6-2 win over Victory Valley, Payton Tomkins had three hits and two runs batted in and Amanda Ramirez had two hits.

In a 12-0 win against Fairfax, Cate Ziegler hit a grand slam.

On Friday, FSHA defeated Pasadena Poly, 14-4, and Ziegler had four runs batted in and two hits. Alli Lombardo had three hits and two RBI.

La Cañada 10, La Salle 6: The Spartans prevailed Thursday on the road in nonleague action to run their record to 4-1 with their third straight win.

BASEBALL

La Cañada 4, Glendale 3: Deadlocked at 3 following the first inning, the Nitros and Spartans didn’t settle things until La Cañada won in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the seventh inning in Friday night’s nonleague game at La Cañada High.

Max Umland, who finished with two hits, a run and a run batted in, delivered a walk-off single to tlead the Spartans (5-3) to victory.

Matthew Sox had a triple, walk and a pair of runs batted in, Kyle Mysliviec had two hits and a run and Brennan Ralphs and Tristan Kalnins threw two innings apiece of scoreless relief with Kalnins getting the victory.

Damien 10, St. Francis 4: Tough times continued for St. Francis, which dropped to 0-7 with Friday’s loss at Arcadia County Park.

Nolan Shwery had two hits for St. Francis, which allowed just four hits to Damien, but its pitchers walked 12 and hit three batters.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

St. Francis at Dos Pueblos Tournament: The Golden Knights lost to Laguna Beach and Oak Park on Saturday in tournament action, losing each match in two games. St. Francis is 2-6.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Crespi 10, St. Francis 5: The Golden Knights lost a Mission League mathch Friday at home and fell to 3-4, 0-2 in league.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy at De La Salle Invitational: Fiona Mass finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes 2.12 seconds in Saturday’s invite.

Emily Gray took 10th in the 100 free in 56.14.
