Sports Roundup: La Cañada basketball squads finish Rio Hondo League play unscathed

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 75, Blair 12: For the first time since the 2009-10 season, the Spartans completed an undefeated run through the Rio Hondo League after Thursday afternoon’s home victory.

The Spartans improved to 23-3, 10-0 in league as four players scored in double figures.

Sarah Kurdoghlian led the way with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Zoe Williams added 13 points and nine rebounds, Amber Graves chipped in 12 points, eight rebounds and two blocks and Alexi Nazarian contributed 10 points.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 60, Blair 37: The Spartans closed out a perfect Rio Hondo League run with a victory in the season finale Thursday evening.

Sean Estes led the Spartans (24-3, 10-0 in league) with 16 points, while Grant Arthur added 13 points.

La Cañada will now await the CIF Southern Section playoff pairings on Sunday.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Alemany 6, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 4: The Tologs fell in the third-place game of the Mission League tournament on Thursday at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame High.

With the defeat, Flintridge Sacred Heart capped the regular season with an 18-10 record and 4-5 mark in league.
