Sports Roundup: La Cañada boys’ basketball puts finishing touches on perfect Rio Hondo League campaign
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
La Cañada 55, South Pasadena 28: The Spartans closed out a second straight undefeated Rio Hondo League championship with a home victory in Thursday’s season finale.
With the victory, the 22nd straight in league for La Cañada, the Spartans improved their record to 24-4 and 10-0.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Flintridge Prep 45, Westridge 26: Flintridge Prep received a team-high 16 points from Kaitlyn Chen and eight each from Renae Tamura and Taylor Yoshida on Thursday in a Prep League road contest. The Prep League champion Rebels improved to 23-2, 12-0 in league.
Chaminade 74, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 40: The visiting Tologs got 14 points from Camilla Homans on Thursday in a Mission League defeat. The Tologs dipped to 8-19, 1-7 in league.
GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 7, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 3: The Tologs won Thursday in the third-place match of the Mission League Tournament at Harvard-Westlake. The Tologs improved to 12-10, 5-4 in league.
La Cañada 12, San Marino 0: The Spartans closed out an undefeated Rio Hondo League championship with a league victory at home Thursday afternoon.
The Spartans improved to 19-7 and 7-0 in league.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
La Cañada 2, South Pasadena 1: The Spartans scored two first-half goals and closed out the regular season with a Rio Hondo League road victory.
The Spartans improved to 8-10-3 and 5-1-2 in league for an outright title.
