BOYS’ WATER POLO

La Cañada 10, South Pasadena 5: The Spartans picked up a big Rio Hondo League victory at the defending league champion Tigers on Thursday afternoon.

With the win, the Spartans improved to 7-6 and 2-1 in league.

St. Francis 10, Milken Community 6: A six-game losing streak for the Golden Knights was put to rest on Thursday afternoon at UCLA.

With the victory, the Golden Knights improved to 5-7.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

La Cañada 3, San Marino 1: The Spartans shook off a two-match Rio Hondo League losing streak with a 26-24, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21 road victory Thursday afternoon in San Marino.

Freshman Emily Weirick led La Cañada (7-10, 4-3) with 16 kills and 24 digs, while Chloe Kerstein added 10 kills. Hailey Belcher added 34 assists and four aces and Elizabeth Gannon tallied 22 digs for the Spartans.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 3, Louisville 0: Host Flintridge Sacred Heart wrapped up second place in the Mission League following a 25-12, 25-20, 25-18 win. The Tologs (15-5, 5-3 in league) received 12 kills, 10 digs and seven aces from Kayla Lund, 10 kills from Ellis DeJardin, 19 assists from Cate Doud and 17 assists from Colleen Clapp.

Flintridge Prep 3, Rio Hondo Prep 0: Jada Gritton finished with 14 kills and Ellen Chang added 11 on Thursday to lift the host Rebels to a 25-19, 25-20, 25-22 Prep League win.

Flintridge Prep (8-6, 4-5 in league) also got 36 assists from Jade Whaley and 29 digs from Taylor Yoshida.

GIRLS’ GOLF

Chaminade 243, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 285: The Tologs dropped a Mission League home match Thursday at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena.
