Sports Roundup: La Cañada girls’ basketball clamps down on San Marino

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 63, San Marino 30: After surrendering 13 first-quarter points, the host Spartans didn’t allow more than nine points in any other quarter in a Rio Hondo League victory Friday afternoon.

Zoe Williams tallied a team-high 16 points and 12 rebounds for La Cañada (16-5, 4-0), while Brooke Yasuda added 10 points.

Flintridge Prep 57, Westridge 32: Taylor Yoshida finished with 17 points and Renae Tamura added 15 to lift host Flintridge Prep in a Prep League victory Thursday.

Kaitlyn Chen added 13 points as the Rebels improved to 16-2, 4-0 in league.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

St. Francis 73, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 70: St. Francis earned a Mission League home victory Friday to improve to 12-7, 2-4 in league.

La Cañada 62, San Marino 41: The Spartans won again in Rio Hondo League play Friday evening at home.

With the win, La Cañada improve to 17-4 and 4-0 in league.

BOYS’ SOCCER

La Cañada 1, San Marino 0: The Spartans remained unbeaten in Rio Hondo League play after a home victory Friday afternoon.

Luke Bonham scored the lone goal for La Cañada, which improved to 5-4-4, 2-0-1 in league.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 5, St. Francis 3: St. Francis got one goal apiece from Colton Ramirez, Christian Ibarra and Taylor Vosbeld on Friday in a Mission League home match to break a scoreless streak of four straight games, but it wasn’t enough for the win. St. Francis dropped to 6-5-4, 1-3-2 in league.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 7, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 5 (OT): The Tologs fell Thursday in a Mission League road contest. Flintridge Sacred Heart is 6-9, 1-2 in league.

Kaitlyn Chen added 13 points as the Rebels improved to 16-2, 4-0 in league.
