GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 55, Monrovia 17: The Spartans kept their undefeated Rio Hondo League run alive Tuesday afternoon and clinched the league championship outright with another easy win.

La Cañada improved to 22-3 overall and 9-0 in league behind a team-high 14 points and seven rebounds from Zoe Williams.

Sarah Kurdoghlian added nine points for the Spartans.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 69, Immaculate Heart 41: Flintridge Sacred Heart clinch second in the Sunshine League following Tuesday’s road win.

The Tologs improved to 19-7, 6-2 in league. Jenna Tran and Casey Johnson had 19 points apiece for the Tologs.

Flintridge Prep 42, Firebaugh 25: The Rebels earned a Prep League home victory Tuesday. Flintridge Prep (15-4, 11-1 in league) got eight points from Alison Fujimoto.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 59, Monrovia 32: La Cañada (23-3, 9-0 in league) earned a Rio Hondo League road win Tuesday against Monrovia.

La Cañada, which already wrapped up the league title, got 25 points from Kouyoumdjian and 15 from Sean Estes.

Flintridge Prep 75, Firebaugh 48: Dante Fregoso collected 21 points and Andrew Tsangeos added 17 on Tuesday to spur the host Rebels in a Prep League contest.

Flintridge Prep (17-4, 8-0 in league) received nine points from Jacob Brawer and eight from Jake Althouse.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

La Cañada 3, Monrovia 0: The Spartans enjoyed quite an effort in a victory on senior day on Monday afternoon, knocking off the first-place Wildcats.

Seniors Megan Reilly, Rose Quezada and Katherine Sheehy all scored a goal, while Reilly and Ella Romero added an assist for the Spartans (12-6-3, 6-3 for 12 points), who are in second place heading into Wednesday’s Rio Hondo League final versus Blair. The Wildcats are 6-2-1 in league for 13 points. If La Cañada wins on Wednesday, a Monrovia tie against South Pasadena would make for a shared league title and a Monrovia loss would see the Spartans take the title outright.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Flintridge Prep 1, Firebaugh 0: Ben Ventresca had a goal and goalkeeper Hamilton Evans finished with seven saves Tuesday for the host Rebels in a Prep League match at St. Francis High.

Flintridge Prep improved to 10-4-2, 2-3 in league.

St. Francis 2, Chaminade 1: The visiting Golden Knights scored two goals in the final five minutes to earn a Mission League road victory.

St. Francis (5-8-5, 3-4-4 in league) got one goal apiece from Mateo Ramirez and Christian Ibarra.

Heading into Wednesday’s league finale against Alemany, the Golden Knights’ 13 points has them in third place in the seven-team league, one point ahead of Notre Dame and two points ahead of Harvard-Westlake and Chaminade.

The win came after a Golden Knights’ 3-1 Mission League loss at Harvard-Westlake on Friday.

The Golden Knights got a goal from Liam Snashall and eight saves from goalkeeper Mark Garcia.

Monrovia 4, La Cañada 3: The Spartans saw their bid to win the Rio Hondo League take a huge hit Monday on the road.

Monrovia converted on a penalty shot in the 10th minute of stoppage time to earn a share of the league championship. Monrovia improved to 18-3-5, 8-0-1 in league for 17 points and La Cañada dipped to 10-5-5, 7-1-1 in league for 15 points.

The Spartans need a win over Blair on Wednesday and a Monrovia loss to South Pasadena to share the title.

Lawrence Ko scored two goals for the Spartans, who got one from Ryan Herron. Herron’s goal tied it at 3 in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

“It was a great game that went back and forth,” La Cañada Coach Alex Harrison said. “It felt a lot like the [CIF] semifinal match from last year. There was a lot of drama.”

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 7, Louisville 2: The Tologs advanced to the Mission League semifinals with Tuesday’s win at Harvard-Westlake in the opening round of the tournament.
