Sports Roundup: La Cañada girls’ hoops returns home for win

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 51, Upland 41: The Spartans picked up a win in their first home game this season in nonleague action Thursday afternoon.

Alexi Nazarian and Tess Oakley-Stilson led La Cañada (2-3) with nine points each, while Zoe Williams added seven points and eight rebounds.

Knight 40, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 38: The Tologs (0-4) fell Thursday in a pool-play contest of the Falcon Tip-Off Classic at Crescenta Valley High. Camilla Homans finished with 15 points.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Flintridge Prep 6, McAuliffe 0: Garrett Gaines had three goals and Nick Klatsky added two on Thursday to propel the host Rebels in a season-opening nonleague match.

Buddy Palmer also scored a goal for Flintridge Prep, which received six saves from goalkeepet Aidan Schrader.

St. Francis 2, North Hollywood 2: The host Golden Knights (1-0-1) tied in a pool-play match of the Brandt Tournament on Thursday.
