Sports Roundup: La Cañada soccer squads blast Blair to conclude Rio Hondo League play

GIRLS’ SOCCER

La Cañada 6, Blair 0: The Spartans rolled to a Rio Hondo League-ending victory on Wednesday afternoon at Blair.

Charlotte Tapp had a hat trick, Sidney Hwang had two goals, including one that deflected in off a Blair player, and Emma Tapp also scored for the Spartans (13-6-3, 7-3 in league for 14 points), who won six in a row in league after dropping three straight.

La Cañada finished the year in second place behind league champion Monrovia (7-2-1, 15 points).

BOYS’ SOCCER

La Cañada 6, Blair 0: The Spartans completed the regular season at 19-3-5, 9-0-1 in league for 19 points with Wednesday’s win.

The Spartans needed Monrovia to lose to South Pasadena on Wednesday to share the league title, but a score was unavailable at press time.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Harvard-Westlake 8, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 1: The Tologs lost in the Mission League Tournament semifinals on Wednesday afternoon against the top-seeded Wolverines.

FSHA is 18-9, 4-4 in league and will face Alemany in the league’s third-place game at 4 p.m. Thursday.

La Cañada 10, Los Altos 7: In what could be a championship game preview, the visiting Division V second-ranked Spartans defeated No. 1 Los Altos in the nonleague season finale Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, the Spartans concluded the regular season with a share of the Rio Hondo League championship and a 19-6 record.
