Sports Roundup: St. Francis basketball picks up big Mission League road win

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

St. Francis 83, Crespi 48: In one of the bigger wins of the coach Todd Wolfson-era, the Golden Knights thumped their Mission League rivals on the road Friday evening.

Four Golden Knights scored in double figures, led by a game-high 19 points from Lucas Shin. Andre Henry added 17 points for St. Francis (14-8, 3-5 in league), while Joey Walsh chipped in 16 points and Omari Moore tallied 14 points.

La Cañada 58, San Marino 41: La Cañada got 18 points from Sean Estes to pick up a Rio Hondo League road win Friday.

The Spartans (20-4, 6-0 in league) also received 17 points from Justin Kouyoumdjian, 11 from Patric Panoosi and eight from Ryan Graves.

Flintridge Prep 76, Rio Hondo Prep 40: The Rebels rolled on Friday evening in a Prep League road contest.

Jake Althouse led Flintridge Prep (9-8, 4-2) with 20 points, while Kendall Kikkawa chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds and Jonny Samuels added nine points.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 51, San Marino 31: The Spartans picked up their 19th straight Rio Hondo League victory with a road triumph Friday evening.

Zoe Williams paced the Spartans (18-5, 6-0) with 13 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks and two steals, while Brooke Yasuda added 10 points and three steals and Alexi Nazarian contributed eight points and four rebounds.

Flintridge Prep 53, Rio Hondo Prep 26: A stifling defensive effort led the Rebels to a Prep League road victory Friday afternoon, which was their 17th in a row in league.

The Kares only scored more than seven points in one quarter as Flintridge Prep improved to 19-2, 8-0 in league.

Taylor Yoshida led all scorers with 13 points for the Rebels, while Renae Tamura added 10 points and Kaitlyn Chen contributed eight points.

Harvard-Westlake 55, Flintridge Sacred Heart 41: The Tologs remain winless in Mission League play after a home loss Thursday evening.

Kysa Hayashi scored a team-high 12 points for Flintridge Sacred Heart, which is now 7-16 and 0-5 in league. Camilla Homans tallied 11 points.

BOYS’ SOCCER

La Cañada 4, San Marino 0: Behind three first-half goals, the Spartans cruised to a Rio Hondo League road victory Friday afternoon.

La Cañada is 8-4-4 and 5-0-1.

St. Francis 3, Crespi 1: With two second-half goals, the Golden Knights snapped a six-match winless streak.

St. Francis improved to 7-6-4, 2-4-2 in league.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 4, Marymount 1: On the road Thursday, the Tologs picked up a hard-fought Mission League win to improve to 11-11, 2-3 in league.
