Sports Roundup: St. Francis’ Foster captures 110-hurdles championship

BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD

St. Francis at San Gabriel Valley Championship: Though the track and field regular season is nearing a close, Golden Knights senior Jasher Foster was getting in important work at the meet at San Dimas High on Saturday.

Foster made his invitational debut after returning from meniscus surgery by winning the 110-meter hurdles competition in 14.40 seconds. Foster was only one of two athletes to finish in less than 15 seconds.

Flintridge Prep at Prep League prelims: The Rebels had quite a few strong efforts on Thursday at Webb School.

Rebels senior Jack Van Scoter cruised to victory in the 1,600-meter run in a mark of 4 minutes, 28.26 seconds.

Junior Riley Coan also won the 800 in 2:07.17 while football lineman Warren Hosseinion captured the shot put with a mark of 45 feet, 8 inches.

The Prep League finals are set for April 29 at Claremont College at 5 p.m.

GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Flintridge Prep at Prep League prelims: It was the Hanna Barakat show on Thursday at Webb School.

The junior sprinter won three events, starting with the 100-meter dash in 12.74 seconds and following with the 200 (26.73) and 400 (1:00.38).

The Prep League finals are set for April 29 at Claremont College at 5 p.m.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Glendale 13, La Cañada 2: Though it’s been a tough season for the Nitros, they picked up a Pacific League victory Friday afternoon at home.

Glendale improved to 2-11 and 1-1 in league, while the Spartans dropped to 4-9, 0-2.
