A 3-year-old child was transported to a hospital on Wednesday afternoon after falling into a swimming pool in La Cañada Flintridge, authorities said.

Los Angeles County firefighters and sheriff’s deputies responded to the home in the 4800 block of Oakwood Avenue around 12:37 p.m. after they received a call that a child had difficulty breathing after being found in the pool, said Sgt. Brian Mann of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The child, who was not immediately identified by authorities as male or female, was taken to Verdugo Hills Hospital with signs of life, said Mann. The child’s current condition is unknown.
